Meet Our School Dog- Indie

We are very excited to introduce you to a new member of staff who we will be welcoming to Mile Oak Primary School.
Indie was born on Tuesday 12th May 2020. She is a Cocker Spaniel who is a school dog in training and is set to become an integral part of our school community. In time we plan to train her to become a fully qualified Pet Therapy and Reading Dog.
Numerous research studies have shown the benefits of therapy dogs in schools and many schools are introducing them to their workforce. Some of the benefits are:
- The development of social skills
- Improved emotional wellbeing for children and staff
- Increased confidence in reading aloud
- Providing a calming influence across the school

We hope you will join us in welcoming Indie to the Mile Oak Primary School family and embrace all that she has to offer the school.
We will be keeping you updated on this page with all of the fantastic things she has been getting up to around the school.
